Life & Death Cafe

What is a Life & Death Cafe?

At a Life & Death Cafe, people come together to talk about life and death.  The goal of a Life & Death Cafe is to increase awareness of death to help people make the most of their lives.

A Life & Death Cafe is a group-directed discussion; there are no agendas or objectives.   It is an open discussion that meanders wherever the group takes it.   A Life & Death Cafe does not lead attendees to any conclusions or course of action and does not promote any products.

Death informs life.  By talking about it, by holding the conversation, and by caring listening, today's choices about how we want to live our lives can become much more clear.

What If We Felt More Prepared for Life's Final Chapter?

End of life is a deeply human experience—and no one should have to navigate it alone. Many people have never heard of an end-of-life doula, but once they do, it opens the door to a different kind of support.

Join Nancy Macke of Compassionate Transitions for a warm, approachable conversation about the role of an end-of-life doula and the non-medical support available to individuals and families. Together, we’ll explore how thoughtful planning, presence, and guidance can bring comfort, clarity, and even peace—from early conversations through the final days and into grief.

Whether you’re curious, caregiving, or simply believe in being prepared, this is a welcoming space for questions, reflection, and connection—where no question is too tender to ask.

Come learn what’s possible—and how we can care for one another, every step of the way.
